MTNL and BSNL are government entities that were founded by the Government of India to provide an internet revolution to the Indian people. But the two public sector units are on the verge of hitting losses year after year. The top management of MTNL & BSNL knew this fact that its broadband & telephone market share is depleting. We have seen that MTNL has changed its surrendered process in 2020. When we have handed over our MTNL broadband connection in 2016, we had only submitted the letter. But now the whole process has changed.

How to Surrender MTNL Connection?

Once you want to surrender the MTNL connection, then what you can do is fill the MTNL surrender form. It is available at http://mtnldelhi.in/forms/Surrender.pdf

MTNL Surrender Form

1. Telephone Number

Fill Telephone Number in the MTNL Surrender Form

It is the first row in the MTNL surrender form. You have to fill in your MTNL telephone number that you want to close.

2. Name of the customer/company/organization (Surname first)

The MTNL broadband or telephone connection can be on your name or your business. When the MTNL connection is in your name, then you have to mention your name in the form. As per the form requirement, you have to write your last name first in the name row. You have to fill in the name of the person who took the MTNL connection.

The second case is that when the MTNL connection is on your business name, in that case, you have to mention the business name in the form.

3. Address Where the Telephone Is Working

In this area, you have to write the Billing Address where the MTNL telephone is currently operating. The MTNL broadband & telephone connection can be at your home or your office. You have to put the place address where the phone is still working.

4. The Date on Which the Telephone Is Required to Be Closed

You have to mention the surrender date from your side to close the MTNL connection. After this date, you cannot use the services of MTNL broadband & telephone.

How To Surrender MTNL Connection?

The easiest way to surrender the MTNL broadband connection and telephone are as follows:

• Write an application to your Area Head of MTNL telling about the discontinuation of the broadband and the telephone. The application must be signed by the one, on whose name the connection is given.

• Take a self-attested photocopy of an Identity like Aadhar Card or Voter ID of the person on whose name the connection is given along with the above application.
• Take your entire router device, telephone device, splinter, CD etc., whatever MTNL has provided you with to the Sanchar Haat. They will charge you in the next bill, if you don’t give them their router CD (Rs 30) or splinter wire (Rs 50).
• Go to your Sanchar Haat area. Take all the things with you as mentioned.
• If all goes well, then it won’t take much time to disconnect your connection/s.

If you have to show all the things first to the SDO and if he approves then he/she will ask you to go straight to the Storeroom to deposit all of your equipment.
